Welcome to the Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Course! This is a exciting course that equips you with the basic tools to improve your emotional and spiritual health. Dallas Willard, in his book Renovation of the Hearth, describes our spirit as that part of our being that holds our will and emotions. The spiritual and the emotional are so very interrelated that each heavily impacts the other. When we are spiritually weak, we are emotional fragile. When we are spiritually strong, we are emotionally healthy.

This course uses materials developed by Dr. Peter Scazzero, was the founder of New Life Fellowship Church in Queens, New York City, a large, multiracial church with more than seventy-three countries represented. He served as the church’s senior pastor for twenty-six years. Peter describes his life of ministry for many years as he moved steadily toward burn-out. While taking a sabbatical to recover, he visited monasteries and discovered a different approach to spirituality, a different way to approach relationship with God, a different rhythm of living.

This course follows Peter as he teaches how he incorporated ancient Christian practices of prayer and study into a future service to God. This course provides you the opportunity to listen and process Peter’s insights, you are asked to discuss your thoughts with your fellow students in the forum of this course. Look for the link for the Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Forum. Finally, I ask you to dedicate a journal or a notebook for this course. Take notes on each lesson and journal your thoughts. Most important, before beginning each lesson, pray to God that He might use this time to touch your heart where it most needs His loving touch.
