Retreat to Discover Healing through Grief

This is an in-resident retreat where we will work through the hard work of grief and the healing that is gained through its process. Loss hurts. It is often silent. The pain is internal and grows. Even when I try to suppress the pain, it only forms into a knot deep down in my soul. What can I do? Where do I turn? I can’t seem to get over it? Whenever there is loss, there is suffering. Whatever is lost, there is the need to grieve. Grief is often dismissed in our world. Instead, society says that we must “get over it!” or “it’s time to move on.” In reality, grief is real, and it is hard work that brings healing. In reality, grief isn’t something to “push through,” but it is a teacher to learn from and provides us with “A new way of seeing. A new definition of self.” (quotes extracted from Gwen Flowers poem Grief).
